Our gateway weekend to Budapest.

Budapest is the capital and the largest city of Hungary and one of the largest cities in the European Union. Budapest became a single city occupying both banks of the river Danube with the unification of Buda and Obuda on the West bank, with Pest on the East bank in 1873.

We decided to have a weekend in this city, cited one of the most beautiful in Europe.

Where to stay

We checked in to our hotel BuddahbarHotelBudapest Klotild Palace, a 5 star luxury hotel located on the corner of Vaci Utca in the heart of Budapest, with its extravagant design, spas and Asian fusion restaurants.
We had the corner suite, a very spacious room with large wardrobe sporting the dragon motif and a seating area with a balcony. Also a luxurious bathroom and a huge bath tub.

We had a quick cocktail and lunch at the Buddah bar restaurant before hiring Retro-Tour Budapest for our sight-seeing private tour.

What to do.

The coolest way to see Budapest is in the back of a Russian Army Jeep. That is probably what the Soviets thought when they invaded in 1956,  but luckily they have gone now, like all the Huns, and Goths and Kazakh's and other people that have invaded the Carpathian region over the centuries and melded in to the Hungarian nationality who have stayed chilled out and friendly with their Goulash, Paprika and furry pigs.

Our tour begun with the cities two most spectacular bridges, then went high up to the Citadel for the most amazing view over the Danube.
We also went to the Parliament and the St Stephen’s cathedral.

Where to eat

Aszu Etterem restaurant A modern cuisine that understands its roots, with an artistically carved gilded wood interior, a live band with Mr Csicso Nemeth Janos on the cimbalom will make your evening unforgettable.
